Welcome to Souvenir de Nusantara. A thousands-of-years-old term, Nusantara means The Archipelago, describing the whole area of present day Indonesia. Home of more than 700 ethnics and cultures inhabiting the vast area comprising 17.508 islands, Indonesia has many to offer. A nation fond of art in any of its forms, our cultural products that root in the country’s ancient tradition have various kinds of crafts, as diverse as its function and meaning. It is our greatest pleasure to invite you enjoying these beauties of our tanah-air (land-water, homeland).

Since this is still the beginning of our presence, we would only offer one of our unique clothe crafts, the Batik. Originated from Java, Batik gains its uniqueness due to its patterns that other than beautiful, also represents different meanings, hopes and also the characteristic of the area and society of its origin. A coastal-marine society will produce different motive than those of agrarian, for example. While in the past it was only used for the robe (both men and women), nowadays, it serves different functions, such as shirts, bags, pants, even for the motives of shoes or sandals.

The batiks we are currently offering you originated from Solo, Central Java, where one of the ancient-yet-still active Javanese kingdoms, Surakarta, is situated. Batik Solo is known for its distinctive design. Though its use was regulated with strict rule (depends on the social status and occasion), currently it is widely considered as suitable for various occasions. Please find in the pictures some of the designs we provide, as well as the ready-to-use products, of which you may choose the pattern (and we will make it by request) with affordable price.
